about

The Mt Gilead Food Pantry began distributing food in March 1996 to 85 persons at the Highland Community Center. In the early years clients received a single bag of food each week.

As the MGFP grew, our need for space increased. We moved to our current location at 101 W. Ingram Street in 2013. It now takes 12-15 volunteers each Saturday and the amount of food provided has increased. Donations are always appreciated and welcomed.

We currently have nearly 400 persons on our client list, with new applicants each week. We are serving 130-150 families weekly.

MGFP is affiliated with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte, NC and receives food through USDA and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).  Food Pantry of Mount Gilead, Inc is a 501c3 charity.
